My Romania > THE ROMANIAN POSTAL-HISTORY PAGE

[Drivelwarehouse.com] The Supermercado Project » Blog Archive » Closing Ceremony: Despite forgetting what the buttons were - which is a pretty pissweak effort given that the Nintendo only ever had an A and B button - and getting off to a terrible start I managed to storm home for a 5th place finish behind the realistically victorious USA. Incidentally the first Olympic game that allows me to select any country I want from China right down to North Korea via Panama and the Cayman Islands with full national anthems will be my god.
[Globalvoicesonline.org] Global Voices Online » Blog Archive » Romania: Hungary Day: Tomorrow is the day when Hungarian nationalists in Udvarhely, a Romanian city whose population is 98% ethnic Hungarian, may clash with their Romanian counterparts, reports Andy H of Csikszereda musings: “[…] And once again the fact that broadly speaking Hungarians and Romanians live together fairly successfully and without rancour, will be obscured by a bunch of nationalist scum - Vadim Tudor will get his publicity, as will the Szekely Autonomists, and everyone on the extremes is happy. Everyone caught in the middle gets screwed.

[Freiburg-home.com] History Of The German Language: During the 1870s, the German language successfully replaced Latin as the dominant language in all major European and North American universities, thanks to the prominence of German universities at the time. Most important research in the sciences from that point forward was published in German, and new universities preferred German instead of Greek or Latin mottos (e.g., Stanford University.) In the 1930s, many brilliant scientists (Albert Einstein) and philosophers (Hannah Arendt) fled from Germany to the United States, where they learned English and began to publish in that language.
