[TravelPod.com TravelStream Recent Entries at TravelPod.com] Established in the 17th century by the rulers of Wallachia, Sinaia grew in importance after the 1860's when Carol I, Romania's first king, decided to build her the Peles Castle, that was to be used as a Royal Residence. The castle took 39 years to complete, since it was a very complex architectural entity, and one of the most modern buildings of its time (it had electricity, central heating, electrical elevator and an integrated vacuum cleaning system, all this in the 1880's!)

It looks like a more peaceful life and one that has a better quality of air to breathe and food that really is natural and bio (not the food that technically passes some requirements to meet the grade to get the sticker that says natural/bio/organic).

While not as challenging as some of the treks we’ve tackled thus far, we still managed to spend over four hours rambling along ridgelines and through alpine meadows, taking a break at the top of a rocky peak for a little snack and some photos.
